597 Incivility in the Operating Theatre

Abstract Aim To establish the prevalence of incivility within operating theatres, understand its impact on wellbeing, team performance, training, and direct future studies. Method A systematic search was conducted using keywords for in healthcare. Studies reporting from all theatre MDT members were included. Data extraction designed to incivility, compare experiences different specialties, assess potential performance wellbeing questions inclusion a national cross-sectional study. Results Incivility can be defined as ‘un-civil behaviour, characteristically rude discourteous, displaying lack regard others.’ 62 papers discussing bullying harassment healthcare settings identified. 14 focused specifically surgical teams. 48-98% staff reported experiencing with surgeons being most likely perpetrators. It more commonly experienced by female, non-heterosexual, inexperienced staff, including trainees. associated reduced higher complication rates, workplace withdrawal, organisational commitment, productivity, wellbeing.
